In the last two years I have given birth to my third child, Lucy, recovered from my third c-section, injured my lower back (see above reasons), gained 20 pounds, started a side business, started this blog, and cared for my three young children along the way.
I’ve been exhausted, moody, grumpy, and mean. My hormones have been out of control with my change in mood able to induce whiplash. I’ve gained weight by looking at food. Some weeks I would be super motivated and focused, and happy, other weeks exhausted and just going through the motions. I would get dizzy upon standing. Some weeks I ached everywhere.
It wasn’t my thyroid, it wasn’t my iron, it was my adrenals and I’ve been down this road before. Something had to change. I had to change.
I needed to prioritize me. I need to change and it needs to be a lifestyle change. I didn’t want to be back here again a third time.
I prioritized sleep, going to bed earlier, sleep training my one-year-old so I no longer held her from 4-7 am. I was the one keeping us back. I was afraid she would wake her brother and sister and now she sleeps until 6 -7 am. The extra concentrated sleep helped a lot. Though her 4-year-old brother has started waking now at 2 am ….
As spring hit I started walking more, trying to increase my physical activity and mood. For my birthday I purchased a FitBit Alta as motivation to increase my step count.
While helpful, these changes were not enough. I was still having the mood swings, still grumpy and still 20 pounds overweight. Then randomly I found the book The Brain Fog Fix and my new lifestyle began to emerge.
The Brain Fog Fix
The book shares the why so many of us feel listless, drained, stressed and the lifestyle changes we can make to change our bodies and our minds. This book was it, what I needed to change in my life and stop these mood swings and weight gain. In order to make a change I need to know the reasons why. Why should I eat omega-3 rich foods, why am I so moody etc, otherwise I easily slip back into my old patterns, The Brain Fog Fix tells you the why and the how.
But wait, she mentioned her adrenals and now she’s talking about the brain???? What is going on? Healing your adrenals relies on eating healthy, exercise, relaxation, and lowering your stress level. All elements that are covered in The Brain Fog Fix. What is good for your brain is good for you adrenals. So I didn’t lose my marbles : ) Least not yet. Give my kids a few more years….
It’s been a few weeks and I am slowly incorporating the lifestyle changes from the book. I already feel and look better. It won’t be fast, but I’m super excited for the future.
If you suffer from any of the symptoms or just want to feel better I highly recommend the book or the audio version. I listen to it as I walk the neighborhood. I’ll also be sharing my lifestyle changes here on the blog to hopefully motivate myself and others. Hop on over and like my Facebook Page to make sure you receive updates.
See you around the neighborhood.
