This multi-surface cleaner is super easy and quick to make and it only takes 3 ingredients. It’s a great cleaning recipe for an essential oil newbie.
2 Cups Distilled Water
15 drops of essential oil (my favorite is Lemongrass)
- Add Water to spray bottle.
- Add Castille Soap and essential oil.
- Shake Well.
Pretty simple directions right??!! Couldn’t be easier to make your own cleaning products without all the synthetic chemicals.
This is the glass bottle I use and love. Essential oils are concentrated and many can break down plastic which is why most essential oil cleaning recipes call for glass bottles. This glass spray bottle comes with a cap if you would like to remove the spray mechanism between uses, is a pretty blue and holds a decent amount of cleaner. I have not had one break yet.
These are the labels I use on my bottles. The package comes with 60 reusable labels that you can use in the pantry as well.
I prefer to use distilled water. You can also use boiled then cooled tap water; however, those will not last as long before bacteria starts multiplying. Tap water lasts roughly 1-2 weeks which for me isn’t long enough.
You can choose to use a citrus essential oil in this recipe. However, if you have granite or other porous surfaces some experts recommend avoiding citrus essential oils as they can dull or etch your counters. To be safe I usually use Organic Lemongrass Essential Oil in my multi-surface cleaner because I like to have one cleaner that I can use on all my surfaces versus having multiple cleaners. I find the scent of Lemongrass to be very cleansing and it’s very economical in a cleaner. Please always test surfaces first.
