Looking for long lasting lips without using toxic ingredients? Here are 5 quick tips to make your lipstick last longer naturally.
Tip # 1 – Exfoliate
Lipstick, makeup, heck even your walls look better when you exfoliate. So remove the dead skin with a gentle exfoliator so your lipstick doesn’t highlight flaky lips. I use the Exfoliating Lip Polish and love the feel of the natural sugar crystals.
Bonus tip – keep your lip polish in your shower for easy cleanup.
Tip #2 – Apply lip balm
I like to start with a lip balm so I know my lips are moisturized right from the start.
I do have a lip balm problem, not using them all the time, but somehow they all end up in the same pocket. How does that happen? Does anyone know? Why would I keep putting more lip balm into the same pocket? It’s a life mystery that I don’t understand.
Tip # 3 – Use a brush
Brush it, brush it real good.
Did you start dancing? I did writing that line. However, joking aside using a brush instead of the tube can help your lipstick last longer and is more precise. It may take a few seconds more, but it helps lipstick stay on longer.
Bonus tip – this is also super helpful when applying on children for dance performances.
Tip #4 – Blot Away
After you apply lipstick, blot gently with a tissue. Use your fingers to plot for more even control. Who else has been doing this step all wrong?? I know I have.
Between using a brush and blotting my daughter’s ballet lipstick lasted for the entire performance and beyond.
Tip #5 – Dust with a Mineral Veil
Holding a tissue up to your mouth and dust Sheer Minerals Matte Veil onto your lips. It’s non-drying and will help the color set. Some people dust without the tissue, I think it’s a personal preference. Try it, either way, to see which method works for you. Add your second coat of lipstick and pucker up for your selfie.
I use, love and sell products from Lemongrass Spa. They are made in the US, cruelty- free, gluten-free and 97-100% natural. Check out this post for more info and their $16 organic lipstick here. Wait, did she just say $16???? Yes, Yes, I did. Natural and organic doesn’t have to mean unaffordable.
Only wear lipstick for big events? I’m a lip gloss girl myself. We got you covered with an affordable organic lip gloss that lasts. My current favorite shade is Beach Babe.
